What are the Rental Policies?
This Policy Page outlines the rules, responsibilities, and operational requirements for any restaurant, caterer, or food service business renting and operating a Nerdy Taco Food Truck. By renting or operating one of our trucks, you agree to all terms below.
1. Rental Eligibility Requirements
Operator Requirements
To rent the Nerdy Taco truck, renters must be a legally registered business or restaurant. Renters must provide proof of business registration, a valid government‑issued ID for the primary operator, proof of food safety certification (ServSafe or equivalent), and proof of liability insurance. A food‑safety–certified operator is required, and renters must be able to obtain all permits needed for their event or location.
We reserve the right to decline rentals to businesses that do not meet these requirements.
2. Insurance Requirements
Insurance Coverage
All renters must carry general liability insurance with a minimum of $1 million in coverage. Auto liability insurance is required if the renter will be driving the truck. Workers’ compensation coverage is required when staff are employed. A Certificate of Insurance naming Nerdy Taco as an Additional Insured must be submitted before pickup.
3. Permits & Legal Compliance
Permit Responsibilities
Renters are responsible for securing all necessary permits for their service area. This includes the St. Louis City Mobile Food Unit Permit, any applicable St. Louis County permits, event or venue approvals, fire safety clearances, and all required parking or vending permissions. Failure to obtain proper permits may result in cancellation without refund.
4. Truck Use & Operational Rules
Operational Rules
Renters agree to operate the truck safely and legally, follow all health department regulations, use only approved cooking equipment, and maintain cleanliness throughout the rental period. Grease, gray water, and waste must be disposed of properly. All propane, electrical, and generator systems must be kept in safe working order. No modifications may be made to the truck without written approval.
5. Damage, Repairs & Liability
Damage Liability
Renters are financially responsible for any damage to the truck or its equipment, as well as any lost or stolen accessories. Cleaning fees may apply if the truck is returned in poor condition, and renters are liable for repairs resulting from misuse or negligence. A pre‑ and post‑rental inspection will be completed and documented.
6. Rental Fees, Deposits & Payments
Rental Payment Terms
Rental fees include the daily or weekly rental rate, a security deposit, and any optional add‑ons such as generator use, propane refills, or equipment upgrades. Security deposits are refundable after inspection, minus any damages or cleaning fees.
Late returns may incur additional charges.
7. Cancellations & Rescheduling
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made fourteen days or more before the rental date are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made seven to thirteen days before the rental date receive a fifty‑percent refund. Cancellations made fewer than seven days before the rental date are non‑refundable. Weather‑related cancellations follow venue or city guidelines. We will work with renters to reschedule when possible.
8. Branding & Marketing Use
Branding Rules
Renters may display temporary signage such as magnets or banners and may promote their business using the truck. Renters may not cover or remove permanent branding, claim ownership of the truck, or use the Nerdy Taco name or likeness without permission.
9. Health & Safety Expectations
Health & Safety Rules
Renters must maintain food safety standards, keep hot and cold foods at proper temperatures, ensure staff follow hygiene requirements, keep fire extinguishers accessible, and follow propane and generator safety protocols.
Failure to follow safety rules may result in immediate termination of the rental.
10. Return Requirements
Return Checklist
The truck must be returned cleaned, including floors, counters, and equipment. Trash and waste tanks must be emptied. All food must be removed. Propane and fuel levels must match the agreed‑upon return levels, and all equipment must be accounted for.
Additional cleaning or restocking fees may apply.
11. Indemnification Clause
Indemnification Terms
The renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Nerdy Taco from any claims, damages, injuries, or losses arising from their use of the truck.
